5 Ways Morning Meditation Is Healthy For Your Mind

October 10, 2018

Find out how some simple reflective meditation time in the mornings can get you ready for the day.

Last week, we looked at some of the ways you can learn to be one of those people who always wakes up on the right side of the bed. One of the ways we highlighted was morning mediation. Since there’s still so much skepticism about the value of meditation, let’s look a little deeper at this one and how it’s the perfect start to the day.

Re-energize

It’s hard to get things going in the morning. You’re tired, groggy and just can’t get your energy up. Even though meditation requires pretty much no physical activity, it can help to give you that energy boost you need. Sometimes all we need in the morning is a little time readjust to the new day. Clear away the sleep in your mind and get ready to take on the day.

Put yourself in the right mood

Some can be a little cranky in the morning, and that’s a miserable way to start the day. You feel bad and it’s probably not going to help your daily interactions either. Starting your day with a calming ritual like meditation can help to dispel any of those negative feelings. Get your mind in a more rational and peaceful place before you go out. Then when the stresses of the day come you’re in a better position to take them on.

Alleviate stress

Some days are easier to handle than others. At times, even the thought of going into work can fill you with stress. But mediation is relaxing by its nature. The quiet time you have to yourself, soothing music that helps create the environment, and the continuous inhaling and exhaling technique helps reduce those worrying feelings. Stress does not disappear so easily, but it helps to keep it in check and prevents it from taking over your morning.

Improve your focus

Sometimes that to-do list can be quite daunting. You have a million things running through your head as you try to start your day. Meditation helps to make your focus sharper so that you can block out all the other noise and zone in on the important things.

Find inspiration and problem-solve

Meditation is a great brainstorming session as your mind clears out all other distractions and allows your to really think on some of the challenges of your day. Chances are if you’re seeking to solve a work problem, it’s going to get done during your morning mediation. Then you can go into work with answers and ready to hit the ground running.

Remember, doesn’t need to be sitting on the ground with your legs crossed while you hum a mantra. It can be done in the shower, while you’re on your morning walk or in any situation that allows you some time alone with your thoughts.
