Tourism Match NS: Helping to Strengthen our Tourism Industry

December 9, 2015

We at Boomerswork.com work hard to serve our community of job seekers, as well as the community at large. Recently, we’ve partnered with Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) to introduce Tourism Match NS. The design of Tourism Match NS is to provide some of our province’s smaller tourism operators with professionals who can help them solve problems and better their business.

We’re very proud to be a part of this initiative to help strengthen our tourism industry and to be able to provide experienced and knowledgeable mentors, such as Denise Williams.

Denise has worked for the tourism industry for years in marketing and sales and, more recently, the implementation of Customer Relationship Management systems. When she heard about Tourism Match NS, she jumped at the chance to volunteer her time and skills to help out a worthwhile cause.

“I think it’s important to give back to the community,” says Denise, “Some businesses just don’t the time, money or resources, so then it’s just about giving back. And I like the work and working with clients that are ready to make changes but need a little support.”

Denise worked with  a small business providing tourist accommodations in Cape Breton, mentoring them and providing advice on how to better their customer service techniques, particularly in regards to technology and establishing a stronger online presence.

“She was very appreciative and a great client to work with. I think she was very capable of making decisions on her own but sometimes it’s important to have that person to help you narrow down the options and figure out where your priorities are. It can be daunting with all the technology out there, but she worked hard and did the research. I think she’s very happy with how it all turned out”

In the end, Denise was very happy with her experience with Tourism Match NS, and praises the importance of the program.

“I think in rural Nova Scotia, it can be challenging for businesses. Sometimes they don’t have direct access to the resources that they need. Tourism is so key to Nova Scotia and we have such an amazing product. It’s great to help businesses reach out and engage potential clients, letting them know what we have to offer.”
