January 26, 2016

Check out the latest episode of Encore by Boomerswork.com on 105.9 Seaside FM hosted by Costas Halavrezos!

There’s been much talk devoted to Canada’s acceptance of Syrian refugees in the past month. Some questions arise as to how the government will be able to accommodate for the thousands of new arrivals and how Canadians themselves will be affected. But what is the experience from the refugees side? Fleeing from danger in their own homeland, what does Canada represent for them? What is their journey like? Reverend Russell Daye of St. Andrew’s United Church spent time in Syria and Turkey with the awaiting refugees. He’ll join us to discuss what he learned and the hopes these refugees have for their new home.

Enjoy the show and be sure to join us for the next episode when we’ll discuss the effects on the health care system as VON offices across the country close down.
